Feel good in my panties!

Evening LMW fam,

Let's talk about period tonight. Yes, you read me well I said PERIOD. I know it's clearly not the sexiest topic ever but it's worth the discussion, promised.

I've been mulling the idea of switching from tampon to menstrual panty for a while. To be quite frankly, at first, I was super skeptical about the idea of wearing a menstrual panty all day long and then having to wash it on my own... On the other hand, I also knew how bad wearing tampons were. You got me, a real dilemma!

So, I decided to give it a try. After all, what's better to be set? Not to be forgotten the ecological side. As most of you already know now, I'm really investing & committing myself to be a bit greener every day. Plus, everyone knows that menstrual panties are far greener than a single-use tampon, that's a no-brainer.

Without a second thought, I took the plunge. I bought my first menstrual panty in the sustainable shop in my neighborhood and started this new adventure with “Dans Ma Culotte”.

A bit bout the brand

"Dans Ma culotte" is a small French brand created in 2015 by Marie Réveilhac & Noëlle Papay. The brand aims to fight against menstrual precariousness and make sustainable and responsible menstrual protection accessible to a maximum of people.

Ecological? Tell me more! The panties are made in India but , for the rest of the production chain, the brand tries to favor local, ethical, responsible partners, family businesses and especially to reduce the number of intermediaries.

Marie & Noëlle have also distributed more than 200 000 washable menstrual protections to 20 unis and cooperatives. How cool is that, eh?!

Not to mention that the panties are made of GOTS-certified organic cotton.

As for the assortment, it's pretty cool too because the brand offers different types of panties according to the flow (shorty/high waist). They even offer menstrual swimsuits!

The price is quite reasonable knowing that a panty costs 34 euros, that is to say, the purchase of 5 boxes of organic tampons (if you do the math, you'll quickly make it all back!).

If you don't feel ready yet, you can find other cleaner products like organic cups or tampons.

How to use your menstrual panty?

Quite easy actually. For your first use, you need to pre-wash the menstrual panties by hand with a special soap and then put them in the washing machine twice (30°).

For your first day of menstruation, I advise you to be ready with your panties well cleaned and ready for their first use. You can wear them for 5 to 12 consecutive hours, depending on your flow of course! After each use, you have to clean it by hand with the little soap I just told you about and then put the panty in the laundry. Personally, I didn't have enough clothes to run a machine so I just washed them by hand, the effect was just as effective. #conscious

My first experience with a menstrual panty:

I must admit that I was surprised. I was convinced that it would be more or less the same as wearing a hygienic towel, if not more eco-friendly. But in fact, not at all!

I'm probably going to sound rather crude but at least it'll be clear. You don't feel any leakage at all! The panties are super comfy, I literally wore them all day without remembering that I was adjusted.

I can only recommend you opt for the menstrual panties. Just a piece of advice, buy one panty/day of menstruation. It will save you from having to wash your panties by hand every night before going to bed :p.

Also, make sure the panties don't show through your clothes. This is also one of the reasons why I love Dans Ma Culotte so much.

Still not convinced? I'm going to add a little more to the list:

  • Healthier,

  • Cheaper,

  • Greener,

  • Super comfortable.

That's it friends, I hope you liked this article (don't hesitate to let me know, it's important for me :) )

Bise,

Math,
